Ejector Pin Maintenance: Cleaning, Inspection, and Extending Pin Life

Ejector pins take repeated load and heat on every cycle. A simple maintenance routine keeps them running true and prevents damage to the mold and the part.

Cleaning

Remove resin residue, flash, and debris from the pin and its bore regularly. Built-up residue increases friction, raises ejection force, and can gall the pin.

Inspection

Check pins for wear, bending, and galling at the tip and along the bearing length. A bent or worn pin can mark the part or damage the bore. Measure pin length and diameter against spec to catch wear early.

Extending Pin Life

• Keep pins lubricated with the correct mold release or lubricant.
• Replace worn pins before they damage the bore.
• Match pin material and hardness to the resin and cycle.
